Overview of Treatment and Medical Updates
During Week 4, I experienced a significant milestone in my treatment journey, as I underwent my second chemotherapy session on Tuesday. This was promptly followed by my routine weekly check-up with Dr. Banarjee. While I have been facing increased pain and difficulties with eating, Dr. Banarjee expressed satisfaction with my progress so far. In response to my symptoms, he adjusted my pain medication regimen, which I believe have been very beneficial in managing my discomfort.
Self-Care and Coping Strategies
In addition to the medical support, I have been making a conscious effort to show more empathy toward the challenges faced by my tongue and mouth, both of which have been affected by the treatment. This self-compassion has become an important part of my coping strategy.
Managing Cancer Fatigue and Exhaustion
The fatigue associated with cancer and its treatment has noticeably increased. There was a day this past week when my daily walk consisted of just a brief stroll to the outdoor swing, highlighting the extent of my exhaustion. I have found it necessary to take substantial naps each day to help my body recover. This past weekend was particularly notable, as I was delighted to have slept in until 11:00 AM on Saturday morning. I am prioritizing my need for rest and allowing myself extra time to recuperate, recognizing that my body clearly requires it.
